They're finally here! The Action Figures of our dreams. But what's that?? You can't find them?? Well, you've come to the right place. You want info on the dolls? Good.
Where to find them
KB toy stores seem to be the best place for the most current ones. Apparently, they have a much better shipping method than the cheaper alternatives such as K mart and Walmart. I've heard that The Dolls are going for 9.99 at K-mart and Wal-mart and 13.99 at Suncoast, Toys R Us and KB.
How many are there?? There are two waves that the action figures will come in, the first one is already here but the second has yet to arrive. The first wave includes:
*Scully in her FBI suit with either a Cryo-pod or an alien infested guy on a strecher and a cell phone.
*Mulder in his FBI suit with either the alien infested guy or the cryo-pod with a flashlight.
*Scully and in artic-gear with either an alien or a cryo-pod with a cell phone.
*Mulder in artic gear with either an alien or a cryo-pod and a flashlight.
*Fire fighter with alien baby
*cave man with attack alien.
and that's just wave one. I expect wave two will have The Cigarette-smoking man and Skinner as dolls also. (Hey..if they give the fire fighter an action figure then Skinner sure as hell deserves one!!)
About the Barbie
The Barbies are a little disappointing because they look so little like Mulder and Scully they are barely recognizable save the give away ID badges that the dolls come with. But, what can I say? The idea of a Barbie version of Mulder and Scully is too interesting to pass up. They do come with cutie badges and the three movie posters hooked onto the box in miniture. The Barbies come with stands that state they are "Ken as Special Agent Mulder" and "Barbie as Special Agent Scully", but I don't recommend taking the dolls out of the box as that might decrease their value.
Rumor has it that the X-Files Barbie has been recalled and is not going to be released until May of next year because the Barbies look so little like Mulder and Scully. Well, I can vouch for the fact that they really don't look much like them at all. (Of course, I bought them anyway). I've also heard that they are taking them back because Scully's hair is too long. Apparently, Fox didn't like the below-shoulder length of it and wants it changed to a neat bob that is parted to the side....whatever. Reportedly, the way you can tell which Barbie version you have is by the rubber band around Scully's hair....if there is one, you have the original version, if not, you have the newer ones. I really doubt a rubber band will incease the value of your Barbie, but hey....that's just my opinion, right?
Anyway, I havn't felt the repercussions of the recall, you can still find the Barbies on the K.B. Toy Store shelf in the Santa Rosa mall, but that's on the west coast, so the midwest or east coast may be a totally different deal, I dont know.
